Class: Intermediate-Hard Diet:

-As babies: Small mouse 3 times a week; will also need roaches, crickets, or earthworms

-As adults: Rat every week; will also need roaches, crickets, or earthworms Heating: None Lighting: Hot basking area and UVB

Tank:

-As babies: 55 Gallon

-As adults: 6' x 4'

Substrate: Newspaper, Sand, Snake mat, or Bioactive

Mental stimulation: Large branch, rocks, and places to hide

Water: Water that they can soak in

Humidity: Soak to help stuck shed

Sexing: Adult males are slightly larger than females and have a noticeable hemipene bulge at the base of their tail. Immature female monitors have scent glands that mimic the this. Probing is usually necessary.

Training: Can be trained in most ways

Pros:

-Act like puppies so they love you

-Hardy

-Can't drop tail

-Arid living so don't need as much humidity control

-Smaller than most monitors

-Sizes of cage are cheaper than most large cages

-Are impressive to have

Cons:

-Act like puppies so they can cause some mischief

-Can be slightly dangerous

-Won't necessarily try to hurt you but those claws can cut you up

-Can tail whip and have sharp teeth

Breeding:

-15-45 eggs in each clutch

-140-180 day incubation period

-Should be at least 1.5 years old

-Tub sizes for breeding:

-Babies: 44qt tub

-Adults: 6' x 6' x 6' room
